About Joe Hartwell

Joe Hartwell is a retired police officer and, in this story, he draws from his experience to describe police procedure and courtroom drama. Many of the other scenes in the story, for example childbirth, are also from first-hand experience, having been present during births on several occasions. Medical terms and issues are also factual. He had a strict Catholic upbringing and so inevitably there are some religious ramifications. In writing, his greatest influences come from Frank Richards, Dennis Wheatley, James Herbert, Graham Masterton and Tom Sharpe. He divorced from his first wife in 1995, and has two daughters, but now lives in Northamptonshire with his second wife and son.

  • Forthcoming

Approaching their forties, career-minded couple, Bridget and Tom Rawnsley, are trying for a baby, hoping they haven't left it too late, but it's just not happening.

Then one night Bridget is raped. She reports the attack to the police but is not impressed with the way they are handling it, so, reluctantly, she drops all charges, only to discover later that she is pregnant.

Her life, already upside-down, becomes entwined with two other couples, and a bisexual nurse who awakens feelings that have been dormant since her teens. Together they navigate their way through social and sexual dilemmas.

Under completely different circumstances, there's a forthcoming event for each couple, but it's not certain that any of these will be a happy occasion.
