For authors who have an idea but have not written a manuscript, a ghostwriter produces the full draft in the author’s voice, working chapter by chapter with review and approval at each stage, since the finished book still needs to read and sound like the author’s own. Once complete, the manuscript goes through the same evaluation, editing, design and publishing process as any other book.
The process begins with a discovery stage, where an in-house ghostwriter learns the author’s story or ideas through an interview process. Authors can also supply notes or voice recordings to support this. If an author already has an outline, this stage moves faster, but where one doesn’t exist yet, the discovery and interview process is what builds it, drawing directly from what the author has shared.
Once a draft outline exists, it goes to the author for feedback. Revisions continue until the author approves it, there’s no limit to how many rounds this takes, since the outline is the foundation everything else is written from and needs to be right before drafting begins.
