Why Every Quotation Is Bespoke

Britannia doesn't publish fixed prices or packages, because no two manuscripts need the same work. Here's what actually decides the cost of publishing your book, and how a quotation is put together.

What Actually Decides the Cost

A fixed package charges every author the same, whether their manuscript needs light copy editing or a full developmental pass, and whether they want an ebook only or print, ebook and audiobook together. That means some authors pay for services they don't need, and others find a package doesn't cover what their book actually requires. Cost is instead based on the manuscript itself: its word count, the type of editing it needs, and which formats and services are chosen.

How a Quotation Is Reached

Every manuscript is evaluated before a quotation is put together, the same evaluation that decides what editing the book needs also informs what it costs. A quotation is written and shared before any work begins or any payment is taken, so the cost is known and confirmed upfront, not estimated loosely and adjusted later.

Why Choose Britannia

Every Quotation Reflects a Real Assessment

Around 25% of manuscripts submitted to Britannia are declined, most often where a manuscript needs more editorial work than can reasonably be offered, or raises legal or content concerns. A quotation only follows a genuine evaluation of your manuscript, not a generic price applied without anyone having read it.

Your Royalties Go Directly to You

Distribution runs through your own IngramSpark and Gardners account, not Britannia's, so royalties from every sale are paid to you directly. What you earn from your book is never routed through a third party first.

No Package to Upsell You Out Of

Without fixed pricing tiers, there's no packaged deal to push you toward services your book doesn't need. What's quoted is scoped to your manuscript specifically, nothing added to fill out a tier.

Our Commitment to Authors

No Pressure to Decide on the Spot

You're never asked to commit before you're ready. A quotation is valid for you to consider at your own pace, with no deadline attached to when you need to respond.

Your Rights Stay With You

Britannia never holds the rights to your book, at any stage, for any reason. What you write and publish remains entirely yours, including the royalties it earns.

No Pressure Tactics

Publishing a book is a decision worth taking time over, and you're given exactly that. Nothing here is sold through urgency or a limited-time offer.

Never Left Without an Answer

Once you've started working with Britannia, you're never without a point of contact. Questions are answered directly, by phone or email, not left unread.

FAQs

There's no fixed answer, cost depends on the manuscript's length, the type of editing it needs, and which formats and services are chosen. A written quotation is provided after your manuscript has been evaluated, before any work begins.

Because a fixed package means some authors pay for services their book doesn't need, while others find it doesn't cover what their book actually requires. Pricing scoped to the manuscript itself means you're quoted for exactly what your book needs, nothing more.

No. Everything is agreed in writing before any work begins, there are no verbal agreements and nothing is added to your cost without being confirmed in writing first.

Yes. A written quotation is shared and agreed before any work starts or any payment is taken.

  • “Experiencing the unexpected”

When I was twelve years old, my family was stationed in Texas on an Air Force assignment. Football in Texas was not just a sport, it was a religion.

One Saturday morning, I showed up for football registration at my school. The coach asked every boy the same question:

    "What position do you play?"

The boys ahead of me answered quarterback, running back, tackle, linebacker and safety.

When my turn came, I replied, "I play them all, Coach."

The coach burst out laughing and said, "I think we got one."

That story came to mind during my experience with Britannia Publishing House.

    They play all positions.

As a first-time author, I had completed my manuscript but knew nothing about the publishing process. Britannia guided me through every step. From editing and formatting to project management and website development, I always felt I had a team working alongside me.

The editing process was exceptional. The editorial team took my rough draft and transformed it into a polished manuscript while preserving the intent and voice of the story. Their attention to detail and ability to improve the narrative without changing its heart was remarkable.

Communication throughout the project was excellent. Questions were answered promptly, ideas were welcomed, and every stage of the process was explained clearly. I never felt rushed or overlooked.

What impressed me most was the collaborative nature of the journey. My book was treated with care, professionalism, and respect from beginning to end.

For any first-time author wondering whether there is a legitimate path from manuscript to publication, my experience with Britannia Publishing House has shown me that there is.

I am grateful for the guidance, patience, professionalism, and hard work of everyone involved.

I worked with Britannia Publishing House on two of my books, and the experience was incredible both times. They guided me through editing, formatting, cover design, and all the publishing details I didn't know how to handle. Their team was patient and supportive. Seeing both books fully polished and ready for readers was something I could never have done on my own
