Harry Fisher has grown up unable to process emotions in the way most people do. In his search to understand himself, he is drawn into a life of murder that breaks him free from an ordinary existence, leading to unexpected friendships in both Britain and Russia.

Using his fascination with forensic science to stay one step ahead of the authorities, Harry discovers that even the most carefully laid plans can unravel. As his family's past begins to catch up with him, he is forced into a world of torture, betrayal and conflict.

His journey eventually leads to the frozen shores of Lake Baikal in Siberia, where every decision brings him closer to an explosive conclusion.
